RSGB Board – January 2025 key messages
Following its meeting in January, the RSGB Board has shared these key messages:
- 2024 Membership: At the end of 2024 the total number of RSGB members stood at 20,401 which is a nett fall of 153 members or 0.74% in the year. However membership is slightly higher than it was in 2014. As the budget assumption had been for a 3% fall in the number of members this was viewed as a positive outcome and an indication that the efforts to recruit new members under the Membership strategic priority were beginning to take effect
- Exams: 2024 had been a good year for exams with a 30% increase in candidates year on year suggesting progress on the Growth strategic priority
- NRC: Visitor numbers to the RSGB National Radio Centre (NRC) in December were 3,274, bringing the full year total for 2024 to 84,690; an increase of 6.1% on 2023. The NRC was open to visitors for 356 days. The NRC is an important resource for delivering the Growth strategic priority
- Vice Chair: The Board has established a new role for a Board Vice Chair. It had selected Peter Bowyer, G4MJS for this role and it welcomed him to his first meeting as Vice Chair
- IARU 100th Anniversary: The Society is a founder member of the IARU and was represented at the meeting in 1925 when it was set up. It will be represented at the events to celebrate the anniversary
