RSGB Board – November 2024 key messages
Following its meeting in November, the RSGB Board has shared these key messages:
- Exams – work to revise the question bank continues. The online question challenge portal is in testing
- OAS – details of four cases dealt with by OAS were reported
- Trophies – the Trophy presentations at the Convention had gone well. The issue of engraving had been raised at the CC Open Forums and work will be done to see what might be done to reinstate this. A working group of potential volunteers and people with good ideas will meet before the end of 2024 to discuss whether we have enough volunteers and ideas to design a new system to restore some, or all, of the previous offering
- Spectrum – preparatory work for the Interim IARU Region 1 Conference to be held in Paris in April 2025 is underway. Work also continues in advanced planning for WRC-27 and indeed WRC-31 which promise once more to give challenges to amateur use of the spectrum in a number of areas. The 23cms issue which took a huge amount of time at WRC-23 has not fully gone away and there are likely to be problems with wind profiling radar proposals in the 40-60MHz range, obviously of concern to the 6m band. This work supports the Strategic Priority of spectrum and licensing
