Could you be the RSGB Youth Champion?

| September 13, 2024

We have a fantastic opportunity for the right person!

Would you like to become the next RSGB Youth Champion?

Do you have what it takes to engage with young people, supporting them on their amateur radio journey?

The role

The RSGB is looking for the next volunteer Youth Champion. This could be one role or split between people who focus on different aspects of it.

The Youth Champion will work closely with RSGB Board Liaison, Ben Lloyd, GW4BML and the RSGB Outreach Team to ignite interest, develop links with schools, universities, Scouts, Guides and the general public. They will also help to support current young amateurs and motivate them to try new things within amateur radio after they gain their licence.

Another part of the Youth Champion’s role is to give input and support for current activities, such as:

  1. Promoting and participating in YOTA (Youngsters on the Air) Month each December
  2. Ensuring RSGB representation at the annual IARU YOTA Summer camp
  3. Supporting the creation of a youth team and running a net/sked to involve all youngsters

Could this be you?

You will need to have the time and energy to support this great opportunity, including the passion and drive to generate and deliver plans to inspire the next generation of radio amateurs.

Are you?

  • Pro-active, enthusiastic and innovative
  • Experienced at managing your own time efficiently
  • A good leader, able to build relationships and mentor young people
  • Passionate about growing the number of young people involved in amateur radio

To find out more or if you’d like to express your interest in the role, contact Youth Board Liaison Ben Lloyd, GW4BML via gw4bml@rsgb.org.uk

This is a challenging, but rewarding role and you could play an important part in inspiring the next generation of radio amateurs.
