RSGB Board – July 2024 meeting key messages
Following its meeting in July, the RSGB Board has shared these key messages. The Board:
- Received reports about the Society’s attendance at the Hamcation in Florida, the Dayton Hamfest and the Friedsrichafen “Ham Radio 2024” event. All three events had proven financially viable. Many new members joined the Society or renewed their membership. The events also provided good opportunities to meet other National Radio Societies, international amateur radio bodies and to promote the RSGB. This supported the strategic priorities of RSGB membership and continuing financial stability
- Agreed to provide funding to support a special event station to commemorate the first G to ZL contact. Board felt that this commemoration had the potential to give wide publicity to the hobby and it supported the growth strategic priority
- Welcomed the publication of the exam manuals based on the new syllabus which covered the changes to the licence conditions
- Co-opted Peter Bowyer, G4MJS and Peter Ransom, M0SFZ under Article 37 to serve as Directors of the Society until the 2025 AGM
- Co-opted two Regional Representatives under Bylaw 4.6 – Peter Lowrie, MI5JYK for Region 8 and Brian Woolnough, M5ADQ for Region 12. They will serve under co-option until the 2025 AGM
- Noted that UK amateur radio would be represented at the forthcoming YOTA summer camp
