Special Events News – 14 June 2015
Riverway ARS will be operating GB200W, Golf Bravo Two Hundred Whiskey, to commemorate the 200th Anniversary of the battle of Waterloo. Operation will take place until the 28th of June and will be active on all bands from 80m to 70cm where possible. QSLs will be accepted via EQSL only. Furness ARS will put GB8CMC on the air to celebrate the 800th anniversary of the Magna Carta from the 12th to the 26th of June on the HF bands using a high power station. More information at QRZ.com
The Phoenix Radio Group will also be commemorating the Magna Carta until the end of the month. Operating as MX0PHX from The Vale of Belvoir, the station will be on the HF and VHF bands; times will vary. Up to date information can be found at www.M0PHX.org.uk
GM150CM will be on the air on the 21st of June from 9.30am to 5pm at The Crossness Engines Trust, The Old Works, Thames Water STW, Belvedere Road, Abbey Wood, London SE2 9AQ. Admission is £6. During June, Furness ARS will be operating GB125SL to celebrate what would have been Stan Laurel’s 125th birthday. The main activity will be on his birthday, Tuesday 16th June, with a high power station on the HF bands, followed by a weekend of activity on Saturday 27th and Saturday 28th June. Gloucester AR&ES will be on the air with GB4FMG on Saturday the 20th of June from Gloucester Folk Museum as part of the Museums on the Air event. They plan to operate on HF and 2m.
Thornbury & South Gloucestershire ARC will be on the air from Thornbury and District Museum on the 20th & 27th of June.
The Five Bridges Cluster will be operating from Segedunum Roman Fort on the 20th and 21st of June from 10am to 4pm as part of the Museums on the Air event.
Nigel, G0GDA will be operating GB8HMC to celebrate the signing of the Magna Carta for 7 days from the 15th of June.
GB4WIV will be on the air for the Wartime in the Vale event, a military vehicle display and wartime re-enactment show at Ashdown Camp near Badsey in Worcestershire. The event will be on the 20th and the 21st of June and they plan to use the 10 to 160m bands as well as 6m, 4m, 2m and 70cm.
West Tyrone ARC will be taking part in the International Museums on the Air weekend from the Ulster American Folk Park in Omagh, County Tyrone with GB1AFP. They will be operating with two stations on HF, VHF/UHF, Echo Link and digital modes from 10am on the 20th of June until 5pm on the 21st.
