Special Events 24 November 2013
Phoenix Radio Group and Mansfield and District ARS are putting GB2OIL on the air today, 24 November, to commemorate the opening of the first commercial deep well oilfield in the UK at Dukes Wood, Eakring in Nottinghamshire in 1943. Operation is planned for 7.165MHz throughout the event and on 14.265MHz or 18.165MHz if conditions permit.
Allen, G4PF and Janet, M0GWW, will be running a station to celebrate Lancashire Day on 27 November using the callsign GB0LD. More information can be found on QRZ.com.
Wednesday 27 November, Chorley and District ARS will be running a special event station marking Lancashire Day using the club call MX0ISN. Operation will be during the day on 40 metres and into the evening from the club. More information is on qrz.com.
From 30 November, for two weeks, GB4FCV will be on the air to mark the achievements of Sir Francis Chichester who sailed Gipsy Moth IV and circumnavigated the globe in 1967. Using the 20, 30, 40, 80 and 160m bands, contacts will be CW only.
