GB4AUK will be on the air today from the Isle of Wight supporting Age UK from the grounds of Wolverton Manor, Shorwell. Operated by Brickfields Amateur Radio Society, contacts will earn a point for the Isle of Wight County Award and Castles and Stately Homes on the Air. The WAS location is WAB SZ48 and the IOTA reference is EU-120.
Also today, the Radio club of Binche will activate ON4WAR to commemorate the sacrifice of the Belgian Resistance in WWII and especially those of the Refuge B 40 in Waudrez, Belgium. South Tyneside Amateur Radio Society will be operating GB2SRM from the site of Stephenson Railway Museum, Middle Engine Lane, North Shields, Tyne & Wear NE29 8DX from 6 to 8 September. All visitors are welcome to the site. Operation will be on all HF bands and 2 metres, with the occasional 2 metre mobile from the train. 6 metres will be active if the band is open.
