News for Northern Ireland – 9 September 2018
Last weekend, 1 and 2 September, the RSGB Region 8 team ran a very successful amateur radio exhibition and demonstration at Airwaves Portrush. The team were given a prime location, but it had a sting in the tail in the form of S9+10 noise levels on the useable HF bands. Interference also caused some quieting at times on 2m, for most of both days. This meant the team were unable to hear many stations. The team would like to apologise to all those who tried unsuccessfully to make the contact—they did their best in very difficult RF conditions. For those that were lucky enough to get in the log, you are reminded that for the QSL card you need to send a card to RAFARS HQ station G8FC with postage or an SSAE. More detailed QSL instructions can be found via GB100RAF on QRZ.com.
