Carmarthen Amateur Radio Society is holding four nets this week. On Tuesday there will be an experimental D-Star Digital Net on XLX490 B starting at 8pm. On Thursday there will be a net via GB3FG from 8pm. The Wednesday net will be via GB3CM from 7.30pm. On Sunday, conditions permitting, there will be an 80m SSB net from 2.30pm. Cwmbran And District Amateur Radio Society has a club night every Wednesday from 7pm to 9pm at Henllys Village Hall, NP44 6JZ. New and old members are always welcome. The Society has a fully-equipped shack for member use which also houses the GB3YA repeater with an Echolink connection via GB3YA-R which are both owned and maintained by the club. Highfields Amateur Radio Club meets at Rhiwbina Recreation Club, Lon Y Dail, Cardiff CF14 6EA at 7pm every Tuesday. The club has access for disabled visitors. On Sundays, Newport Amateur Radio Society has an HF net around 3.705MHz at 10am. Monday sees the start of the Society’s summer radio camp at Llancloudy. On Sundays, North Wales Amateur Radio Group has a net through GB3OR from 8pm. On Tuesday, the Group is meeting at Mochdre Village Hall from 7pm. Jack’s Net takes place through GB3OR from 8pm on Wednesday. The Friday net is via GB3OR at 10am. On Saturday, the group will be holding a net on 70.450MHz from 11am. Rhondda Amateur Radio Society has now moved to Ystrad, Rhondda, Sports Centre CF41 7SY, where there is greater availability of car parking space, and better access to main bus route stops. The club anticipates that the move will make it easier for residents, both local to Rhondda and beyond, to access it. At present, the club is involved in getting its equipment and learning sessions up and running. This is an ideal time for new members to become involved. So, if you think you would like to try amateur radio, or one of its many facets, please give John a ring on 01443 432 542, or simply turn up at one of the club meetings to find out more. Prior radio knowledge is not required.
