I am sorry to have to pass on the sad news that Ken Wheatley, G3BBR passed away on 14 June 2014, just three days after his 90th birthday. He had been suffering from ill-health for some time and was being cared for in Acorn Court Nursing Home in Merstham.
Ken had not been active on the air for the past two or three years but he was a first class operator and counted his ARRL DXCC Roll of Honor certificate as one of the high points of his 60+ years of operating. His well-honed CW operating skills were also to the fore on many HF Field Days when the RATS (Reigate) station G3REI/G5LK was a regular contender in this annual event.
We send our sincere condolences to his wife Mary and the family on their sad loss.
