Carmarthen Amateur Radio Society is planning to hold its annual ‘Members and Partners Only’ outdoor barbecue on Tuesday 15 August, starting at 6.30pm. The venue is as published on the club reflector. Members are invited to bring their own food which the barbecue chef can cook for them, and then relax, enjoy and just have some fun. Please bring your own drinks, a drinking vessel and a chair to sit on. There may be talk-in from site on 145.550MHz FM, and/or via 70cm using GB3CM. In addition, there are three nets this week: a 2m FM net on GB3FG on Thursday starting at 8pm; a 70cm FM net on GB3CM on Wednesday starting at 7.30pm; and an 80m SSB net, conditions permitting, on Sunday starting at 2.30pm. Cwmbran And District Amateur Radio Society has a club night every Wednesday from 7pm to 9pm at Henllys Village Hall, NP44 6JZ. New and old members are always welcome. The Society has a fully-equipped shack for member use which also houses the GB3YA repeater with an Echolink connection via GB3YA-R which are both owned and maintained by the club. On Wednesday there will be a net via the GB3GO repeater from 7.30pm. The Friday net is via GB3OR at 10am. On Saturday, the group will be holding a net on 70.450MHz from 11am. Rhondda Amateur Radio Society has now moved to Ystrad, Rhondda, Sports Centre CF41 7SY, where there is greater availability of car parking space, and better access to main bus route stops. The club anticipates that the move will make it easier for residents, both local to Rhondda and beyond, to access it. At present, the club is involved in getting its equipment and training sessions up and running. This is an ideal time for new members to become involved.
