Volunteer with us

Much of the success of the RSGB National Radio Centre (NRC) can be attributed to our amazing team of volunteers.

Each day, volunteers welcome between 100 and 500-plus visitors through our doors.

They share a strong sense of pride, enthusiasm and have a wonderful team spirit—all with the purpose of promoting amateur radio.

To volunteer you don’t need to have great knowledge, just an ability and an enthusiasm to engage with visitors and share your passion for radio.

Why volunteer?

Firstly, you are giving something back to the hobby by encouraging new people to get involved, but volunteers quickly realise there is much more.

You will meet lots of interesting people, enjoy a strong social aspect and maybe you will even learn from the other volunteers who have expertise in areas you haven’t tried yet.

Come join the team!

We welcomed over 84,000 visitors to the NRC last year and we’re on the lookout for additional volunteers to meet with the public to promote amateur radio as a technical hobby.

You will need to be…

  • Confident with meeting people and explaining about the hobby

  • Happy to use the GB3RS station to demonstrate amateur radio

  • Prepared to volunteer regularly, once a fortnight

Full training will be given and NRC volunteers enjoy numerous benefits associated with volunteering at the Bletchley Park.

We look forward to hearing from you!
