News for Scotland – 9 June 2024

| June 7, 2024

We start today’s news with a note of great sadness as we have to report the passing of Anne Cox GM4UXX, wife of Jack GM4COX, who passed away peacefully on Saturday 1 June with Jack at her bedside. Although not a member of the West of Scotland Amateur Radio Society, she was involved in many aspects of the Club and amateur radio in general. She did her stint as Secretary of the Mid Lanark Amateur Radio Club where she was tutored in the City and Guilds RAE, obtaining her GM6 call in the early eighties. Not to be outdone by Jack’s GM4 Class A callsign, she passed her 12 words per minute Morse test. Anne had been unwell for some time and Jack was her devoted carer for all that time. We send our deepest condolences to Jack and all his family at this sad time. Funeral arrangements will be reported in GB2RS and the West of Scotland Amateur Radio Society’s website when these are known.
