RSGB elections: unopposed nominations

Nominations in the RSGB elections closed at the end of January. For some roles, a single nomination was received, and the candidate is therefore elected unopposed and will be invited to take up their role at the end of the RSGB AGM in April. These include the roles of President and also Regional Representatives in Regions 1, 4, 7, 8, 10, 11 and 12. You can read further information about each of the unopposed candidates below and in the pdf links.

Bob will take on the role of President at the end of the RSGB AGM in April 2025

Personal statement: Amateur radio has been a foundation throughout my life. What a brilliant hobby with so many facets that we all share! The Society has existed for over a hundred years and I feel passionate about it being here for the next hundred years. We must strive to empower our younger members in every way we can. We should be at the forefront of communications technology learning for all members. It is really important that we continue to promote our hobby not just nationally but further afield. We receive significant interest internationally as being the experts in our field, we should nurture and promote this yet further.

Crucially the RSGB must continue to play its part with our own regulator Ofcom and international organisations. The IARU for example, ensures that we have strong representation with key stakeholders to protect the frequency allocation and spectrum for our amateur service.

The Society needs drive, leadership, teamwork and commitment at the highest level to deliver our strategic goals but importantly, elevating our profile and the Society’s enterprising spirit. I wish not only to play my part as a committed member of the RSGB Board, ensuring good governance and decision making, but also representing and leading the Society. I will support the Board, its Headquarters team and volunteers as is necessary in delivering these goals successfully.

Regional election unopposed candidates

In this year’s Regional Elections there were eight Regional Representative vacancies (Regions 1, 4, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12). In Regions 1, 4, 7, 8, 10, 11 and 12 a single nomination was received, and that candidate is, therefore, elected unopposed and will be invited to take up their role at the end of the RSGB AGM 2025. In Region 9, no valid nomination was received.
