RSGB Board – Dec meeting key messages
Following its meeting in December 2023, the RSGB Board has shared these key messages from that meeting:
- Board approved the budget for 2024. Whilst good progress continued to be made reducing the deficit, inflation had continued at a relatively high level
- The results of the Ofcom review were broadly welcomed though Board regretted the decision to make the use of RSLs optional. The review would impact other RSGB services and this would be reviewed over the next few months
- WRC-23: Board congratulated the RSGB team who has attended WRC. Through hard work, threats to 28MHz and 50MHz had been removed. Whilst there would be some impact on 23cm this was viewed as much better than the effective loss of the band – which had been a real possibility
- Trophies: Board welcomed the offer from HQ to look after the main trophies as awarded at the AGM. The problem of contest trophies was much larger and needed either a new Trophy Manager or Board might have to discontinue the award of these trophies, at least in the current format
- YOTA: Board welcomed the YOTA activity led by Board Director Ben Lloyd, GW4BML. He was on course to set up a new structure and two events were planned for YOTA month
