YOTA Month

December 2026 marks the exciting return of YOTA Month, a special IARU initiative aimed at engaging young amateur radio operators across the UK and beyond.

What is YOTA Month?

It is an annual event organised by the IARU Region 1, and supported by the RSGB, to inspire and activate young operators aged 26 and under. Why? To showcase the fun and educational aspects of amateur radio, providing a platform for youth to connect, learn, and share their experiences.

Get involved by hosting the special event station

This year, the event will feature the special event station GB26YOTA. As this is a special event call sign, you will need a Full licensee on site to supervise the operators. If you’re not a Full licensee, why not get together with others and have a group event? Clubs, schools, universities, youth groups and individuals can all apply to host the special event station and are encouraged to start planning now.

How do I book an operating slot?

  1. Click on the schedule or visit the QRZ.com page to see which slots are available. These are set to two hour increments, but you are welcome to arrange to split this time with others.

  2. Contact the RSGB YOTA Month Coordinator Sam, M0UEL via yota.month@rsgb.org.uk to register as a GB26YOTA host and book your slots

  3. Sam can also help with any questions about taking part for the first time

Please also keep an ear out on the air for the YOTA call signs from other countries, and try to make contact with them if you can!

Make sure you don’t miss out on being part of the team helping to make YOTA Month the best yet!
