Commonwealth Games Awards

In celebration of the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, the RSGB ran amateur radio activities with associated operating awards.

The closing date for applications for the awards is 31 October 2022.

 

The 2022 Commonwealth Games Award

This award ran from 28 July to 31 August.

Amateur radio operators and shortwave listeners worldwide were invited to have or hear QSOs with as many of the 72 Commonwealth countries as possible during this period.

You will need to record your progress in the Commonwealth Games Award Checklist spreadsheet which you can download from the link below.

Awards are available at different levels and for either mixed modes or single mode (SSB, CW or Data):

  • Bronze Award: 12 countries in mixed modes or 8 countries in a single mode
  • Silver Award: 20 countries in mixed modes or 12 countries in a single mode
  • Gold Award: 26 countries in mixed modes or 18 countries in a single mode
  • Diamond Award: 32 countries in mixed modes or 24 countries in a single mode
  • Platinum Award: 40 countries in mixed modes or 30 countries in a single mode

Applications for this award should be made to the RSGB Awards Manager at awards@rsgb.org.uk using the Commonwealth Games Award application form which you can download from the link below.

You will need to save the form on your computer in order to be able to complete and sign it before submitting it.

Short wave listeners should indicate SWL on the form.

Please also submit your Commonwealth Games Award checklist spreadsheet—see above—containing details of all applicable contacts.

Applications must be received by the RSGB Awards Manager by 31 October 2022.

 

The GB22 Award

An additional single-level GB22 Award is available for working, or hearing, at least four of the eight special event stations (SES) that were in operation during the games:

  • GB22HQ
    Call sign for operation at the special event station in Birmingham, England
  • GB22GE
    For activation in England
  • GB22GW
    For activation in Wales
  • GB22GM
    For activation in Scotland
  • GB22GI
    For activation in Northern Ireland
  • GB22GD
    For activation in the Isle of Man
  • GB22GU
    For activation in Guernsey
  • GB22GJ
    For activation in Jersey

Applications should be made to the RSGB Awards Manager at awards@rsgb.org.uk using the GB22 Award application form which you can download from the link below.
