Today, Sunday 23rd, the Practical Wireless 70MHz Contest runs from 1200 to 1600UTC. It has a Low Power section, that’s 10 watts in this contest, and Open sections. Scoring is 1 point per contact, multiplied by the number of Locator squares worked. Using all modes on the band, the exchange is signal report, serial number and locator. As this is the 80th anniversary year of Practical Wireless, expect a good turnout.

The BARTG Sprint 75 also takes place today, 23 September. Available sections are Single Operator Expert and Single Operator All Band. Running from 1700 to 2100UTC and using bands from 3.5 to 28MHz, the exchange is the serial number.

On Tuesday, the 50MHz UK Activity Contest takes place from 1900 to 2130UTC. Using all modes the exchange is signal report, serial number and locator.

Also on Tuesday, the SHF UK Activity Contest takes place from 1900 to 2130UTC. Using all modes on the 2.3 to 10GHz bands the exchange is signal report, serial number and locator.

The 80m Cub Sprint takes place from 1900 to 2000UTC on 27 September. Using CW only, the exchange is both callsigns, serial number and name.

The final weekend of the month brings the CQWW DX Contest. This month it’s RTTY and it runs for the whole 48 hours of 29 and 30 September. Using the 3.5 to 28MHz bands the exchange is signal report and Zone, which in the UK is 14.

The final event in September is the UK Microwave Group Cumulatives, which take place on the 5.7 to 24GHz bands for six hours between 1000 and 1500UTC on Sunday 30th. The exchange is signal report, serial number and locator.
