Carmarthen Amateur Radio Society is holding an illustrated talk on ‘Designing and building your own equipment’ by Jeff, GW3UZS on Tuesday 6 August. The doors open at 6.30pm at The Cwmduad Community Centre, Cwmduad, Carmarthenshire. Parking outside the hall is limited, so visitors are advised to arrive early. The number 460 bus service is available between Carmarthen and Cardigan, via Newcastle Emlyn. Light refreshments are also available. There is no digital net on XLX490D that evening. Three of the regular weekly nets are being held as usual: a 70cm FM net on GB3CM on Wednesday starting at 7.30pm; a 2m FM net is on GB3FG on Thursday starting at 8pm, assuming the repeater is available. If it is not, then XLX490D is the fallback. On Sunday there will be an 80m SSB net, conditions permitting, starting at 2.30pm. Chepstow and District Amateur Radio Society meets on the first and third Tuesdays of the month in the upstairs room at Chepstow Athletic Club, NP16 5JT, from 7.30pm. The Society welcomes both licensed and unlicensed visitors and its membership includes people of all ages who have a variety of interests in radio. The Society’s callsign, which has been linked to Chepstow for many years, is GW4LWZ. On Saturday 10 August, Members will be at the Chepstow Agricultural show. Special callsign GB0CAS we will be operating on the 70cm GB3ZB, GB3FI and GB3CG repeaters. Cwmbran and District Amateur Radio Society has a club night every Wednesday from 7pm to 9pm at Henllys [Hentliss] Village Hall, NP44 6JZ. New and old members are always welcome. The Society has a fully-equipped shack for member use which also houses the GB3YA repeater, with an Echolink connection via GB3YA-R. Both are owned and maintained by the club. Highfields Amateur Radio Club meets at Rhiwbina Recreation Club, Lon Y Dail, Cardiff, CF14 6EA at 7pm every Tuesday. The Club has access for disabled visitors. There are nets on GB3WB from 9.30pm to 10.30pm most nights of the week. On Mondays there is a Wires-X net in the Highfields room, 05993. Access is also possible in Cardiff via gateways on 431.075MHz and 431.1875MHz. On Wednesdays there are nets on 145.525MHz FM from 7.30pm to 8.30pm. On Fridays, from 7pm, there is a net on the MB7IEC Allstar node 59948 and via Echolink MB7IEC-L.
