Wisley 17th November 2012
Wisley was another new area for ARDF. Bisected by both the M25 and the A3, it poses particular problems since it is essential to identify and find all the transmitters in any one quadrant before moving across to the next. Michael M6MDD provided full 144MHz courses in the morning and a mini sprint race on […]
Whippendell Wood, Watford 21 Oct 2012
Whippendell Woods may be small but it is runnable in pretty much any direction. David Heale provided a good 144MHz course in the morning. After lunch there was a novel and very interesting competition on 3.5MHz using three main transmitters, each one of which had a micro power ‘cub’ which could be heard in the […]
Cademan Wood, Leicestershire 18 Aug 2012
Designed primarily to ‘sharpen up’ the RSGB ARDF Team prior to their departure for WC2012 in Serbia, John Marriott provided an excellent 144 MHz course across some very detailed terrain. After lunch Bob G3ORY organised the very first UK sprint race using two sets of transmitters operating on two different frequencies
Maulden Wood, Bedfordshire 22 July 2012
John M1SHE always runs a good event in the Milton Keynes area and this year was no exception. The exceptional wet weather did him no favours when many of the paths were mud from one side to the other and the undergrowth had roared away to grow to unprecedented heights
Strinsdale, Oldham 30 June 2012
Phil Ellis and the Oldham Club again staged an event for those living in the north of England. A good contingent travelled up from the Midlands. Torrential rain and lightning added to the usual challenges in unusual and interesting terrain.
Lickey Hills, Birmingham 17 June 2012
David M0WDD brought us back to the Lickey Hills south west of Birmingham in June, making full use of this heavily contoured area. After the main 144MHz race, Bob G3ORY set out a 3.5MHz sprint course in the afternoon.
