{"id":50214,"date":"2026-09-04T13:29:31","date_gmt":"2026-09-04T12:29:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rsgb.org\/main\/?p=50214"},"modified":"2026-09-04T13:36:01","modified_gmt":"2026-09-04T12:36:01","slug":"which-coding-activities-will-you-be-trying","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rsgb.org\/main\/blog\/news\/gb2rs\/headlines\/2026\/09\/04\/which-coding-activities-will-you-be-trying\/","title":{"rendered":"Which coding activities will you be trying?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>National Coding Week is back this month!<\/p>\n<p>To support radio amateurs in building their digital skills and explore the world of programming, the RSGB has shared three new activities for you to try.<\/p>\n<p>The first builds on the <a href=\"https:\/\/rsgb.org\/main\/coding-and-amateur-radio\/python-pocket-morse\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Python Pocket Morse activity<\/strong> <\/a>developed last year and guides radio amateurs to use a <a href=\"https:\/\/rsgb.services\/\/public\/events\/260811_NCW_2026_Coding_activity.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>BBC Micro:bit to send Morse code either on a telegraph wire or wirelessly<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The second is \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/rsgb.services\/\/public\/events\/260811_NCW_2026_g-force_activity.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Ener-G use<\/strong><\/a>\u2019 which is great for unlicensed and younger radio amateurs and allows them to compare increasing forces and energy use with a fun Micro:bit activity.<\/p>\n<p>The third activity is based on the <a href=\"https:\/\/rsgb.services\/\/public\/events\/260811_NCW_2026_Raspberry_Pico_activity.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Raspberry Pi Pico 2W<\/strong><\/a>. It is a demonstration of Pulse Width Modulation and uses just a couple of components, including an LED and a resistor, and will give you a better understanding of the concept of duty cycle.<\/p>\n<p>All three activities are available via the <a href=\"https:\/\/rsgb.org\/main\/coding-and-amateur-radio\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>RSGB website<\/strong><\/a>.
