{"id":50020,"date":"2026-08-28T14:30:55","date_gmt":"2026-08-28T13:30:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rsgb.org\/main\/?p=50020"},"modified":"2026-08-28T14:31:09","modified_gmt":"2026-08-28T13:31:09","slug":"rsgb-board-chair-changes-as-part-of-planned-transition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rsgb.org\/main\/blog\/news\/gb2rs\/headlines\/2026\/08\/28\/rsgb-board-chair-changes-as-part-of-planned-transition\/","title":{"rendered":"RSGB Board Chair changes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The RSGB Board is pleased to announce that, following its meeting on 22 August 2026, Graham Smith, G4NMD has been appointed Chair of the <a href=\"http:\/\/rsgb.org\/board\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Board<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This appointment forms part of a planned and orderly leadership transition agreed by the Board. Stewart Bryant, G3YSX, who has served as Chair since 2023 with distinction, fully supports the change and will remain a Director until the 2027 AGM. He will continue to contribute his considerable experience to the Society and its activities.<\/p>\n<p>Licensed since 1974, Graham has been active in many areas of amateur radio, including service as an RSGB District Representative, RAYNET-UK Controller and member of the Emergency Communications and Resilience Group. Since joining the Board, he has led work on resilience, volunteer development, and governance improvement, as well as serving as Board Liaison for Training and Education.<\/p>\n<p>Stewart said:<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cI am pleased to support this planned transition and look forward to continuing my service on the Board. I would like to thank fellow Board members, volunteers, members and staff for the support they have given me during my time as President and Chair. The Society is fortunate to have such dedicated people contributing across so many areas, and I remain committed to supporting the RSGB and its future development.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Commenting on his appointment, Graham said:<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cIt is a privilege to take on the role of Chair. I would like to thank Stewart for his leadership and service, and I am delighted that he will continue to contribute his experience and guidance.
