Interested in the intersection of other hobbies and crafts and trying to bring together the communities of multiple disciplines to make art, tech, useful, and useless things. Very good at starting projects. Generally bad at finishing them.

Tom Wardill is the RSGB Maker Champion. In his role, Tom assists the RSGB in taking amateur radio to new audiences in the hackspace and makerspace communities. Tom also investigates opportunities to encourage crossover in both directions, offering new areas of experimentation to more traditional licence holders. You can meet Tom in the RSGB Village at the National Hamfest 2026 this year.

Watch live

Tonight@8 webinars are live-streamed on our YouTube channel and special BATC channel, allowing you to watch the presentations and ask questions online.

The presentation Amateur radio has always been about making, experimenting, creating, and investigating.
