Why did you choose to volunteer with the RSGB? <\/strong>\u00a0To encourage people to discover amateur radio. To give back to the RSGB and to help it grow for the future.<\/p>\n

How long have you been an RSGB volunteer? <\/strong>I retired from full-time employment just over a year ago and started volunteering at the RSGB National Radio Centre<\/strong> <\/a>(NRC) a couple of months later. What particularly impressed me was the induction and support I was given in those early months, while getting used to volunteering, but the best aspect is talking and demonstrating amateur radio to members of the public.<\/p>\n

What would you say to people who are thinking of volunteering?<\/strong> Give it a try! You might be surprised how enjoyable it is, not just the camaraderie of those who you volunteer with but also learning from your fellow volunteers as well as the buzz in explaining amateur radio.<\/p>\n

Which aspect of amateur radio would you still like to try? <\/strong>Well, if you had asked me a year ago, I wouldn’t have said CW, but having seen the expertise of the NRC volunteers in Morse it has given me an interest, especially when I help visitors to send their names in Morse<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
