Last night I stayed up until about 4am working the Americas, so hauling myself out of bed was a bit of a challenge. One thing I\u2019m starting to realise about these camps is the physical endurance required!<\/h4>\n<h4>The first lecture was about <strong>emergency communications<\/strong> in critical situations. This is something I find very attractive about amateur radio: the fact that we don\u2019t have to rely on a trillion dollar infrastructure! Sometimes I feel a bit lost without my phone, so it\u2019s nice to know we\u2019re getting the skills to communicate effectively.<\/h4>\n<h4>Our second lecture was about <strong>DXpeditions<\/strong>, given by the Mediterraneano DX club. Travelling to work a rare DX station sounds like a lot of fun and it\u2019s something I\u2019d love to try some day.<\/h4>\n<h4>Finally, we were shown how balloons can be used to send <strong>transmitters<\/strong> to the upper atmosphere.
