{"id":31387,"date":"2023-02-03T16:59:42","date_gmt":"2023-02-03T16:59:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rsgb.org\/main\/?p=31387"},"modified":"2023-02-03T17:25:37","modified_gmt":"2023-02-03T17:25:37","slug":"the-uk-meteor-beacon-project-convention-2022-presentation-released","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rsgb.org\/main\/blog\/news\/gb2rs\/headlines\/2023\/02\/03\/the-uk-meteor-beacon-project-convention-2022-presentation-released\/","title":{"rendered":"UK Meteor Beacon Project presentation released"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The RSGB has just released another presentation from its <a href=\"https:\/\/rsgb.org\/main\/publications-archives\/video\/rsgb-convention-lectures\/rsgb-2022-convention-lectures\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>2022 Convention<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Brian Coleman, G4NNS <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/CF37xoCxoJo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>talks about The UK Meteor Beacon Project<\/strong><\/a> which is a collaborative project between the amateur radio and radio astronomy communities.<\/p>\n<p>The aim is to collect data on meteor events over the UK and phase one was to establish a transmit beacon.<\/p>\n<p>Phase two is to create a network of receivers to monitor the radio echoes from meteors and to stream data over the internet to support the study of meteor events and their impact on the ionosphere.<\/p>\n<p>The project has received RSGB Legacy funds to help make this great idea happen.<\/p>\n<p>You can see the presentation on the RSGB YouTube channel and you can find out more about the <a href=\"https:\/\/rsgb.org\/main\/about-us\/committees\/legacy-committee\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>RSGB Legacy funds<\/strong><\/a> on the Society\u2019s website.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The RSGB has just released another presentation from its 2022 Convention.
