{"id":30698,"date":"2022-10-14T13:58:10","date_gmt":"2022-10-14T12:58:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rsgb.org\/main\/?p=30698"},"modified":"2022-10-14T14:11:47","modified_gmt":"2022-10-14T13:11:47","slug":"new-transponder-bandplan-for-qo-100","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rsgb.org\/main\/blog\/news\/gb2rs\/headlines\/2022\/10\/14\/new-transponder-bandplan-for-qo-100\/","title":{"rendered":"New Transponder Bandplan for QO-100"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>At the <a href=\"https:\/\/amsat-uk.org\/colloquium\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>2022 AMSAT-UK Colloquium<\/strong><\/a> on Saturday 8 October 2022, a new narrowband transponder bandplan for the QO-100 geostationary amateur satellite was announced.<\/p>\n<p>Among other changes, AMSAT has allocated a new \u2018broadcast\u2019 spot frequency which is intended for the news services of amateur radio organisations.<\/p>\n<p>The RSGB\u2019s news service <a href=\"https:\/\/rsgb.org\/main\/gb2rs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>GB2RS<\/strong><\/a> has been transmitted via QO-100 for some time and has already clocked-up 70 broadcasts.<\/p>\n<p>It is very popular, with an audience within the footprint of the satellite which covers almost half of the world\u2019s surface.<\/p>\n<p>Following this announcement, GB2RS will be moving to the new broadcast frequency of 10489.855MHz with immediate effect.<\/p>\n<p>The transmission is at 0800UTC every Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps in the future, the news services of other amateur radio organisations will follow the RSGB\u2019s lead and make use of this special allocation to reach a diverse international audience.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>At the 2022 AMSAT-UK Colloquium on Saturday 8 October 2022, a new narrowband transponder bandplan for the QO-100 geostationary amateur satellite was announced.
