The January 2022 <em>RadCom<\/em> is now on the website at <a href=\"https:\/\/rsgb.org\/radcom\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>rsgb.org\/radcom<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Have you ever thought of becoming a GB2RS Newsreader? The team to the north-west of Manchester is looking for someone to join them, to broadcast on Sunday morning and\/or evening on 2m and 4m. Applicants must be Members of the RSGB and hold a Full or Intermediate licence. For more information, please contact the north-west team via Annick, M0HDE, email <strong>annickmorris@gmail.com<\/strong>.\u00a0 For general guidance about joining the GB2RS service, please contact the GB2RS Manager, Steve, G4HPE, on <strong>gb2rs.manager@rsgb.org.uk<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To mark 100 years of British broadcasting, the BBC will be putting on special events throughout 2022. As part of the celebrations, the staff amateur radio club, the <a href=\"https:\/\/g8bbc.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>BBC Radio Group<\/strong><\/a>, will be active throughout the year using the special call sign GB100BBC. Ofcom has kindly permitted operation from club members\u2019 home stations, as well as from BBC premises around the UK, and locations associated with BBC broadcasting such as transmitter sites.\u00a0 In addition to online QSL options, a traditional commemorative QSL card will be available via the bureau. Operations will commence on New Year\u2019s Day from the club shack in Broadcasting House, London.<\/p>\n<p>The winners of the RSGB and ARRL 160 Metre Transatlantic Centenary QSO Party are Rick Niswander, K7GM and Bob Barden, MD0CCE. They receive a <em>quaich<\/em>, a traditional Scottish drinking cup representing friendship, from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gmdx.org.uk\/page-1392144\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>GMDX Group of Scotland<\/strong><\/a>. For more information see <a href=\"https:\/\/rsgb.org\/transatlantic-tests\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>rsgb.org\/transatlantic-tests<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Gwyn Williams, G4FKH has decided to stop running the <a href=\"https:\/\/predtest.uk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Predtest.uk<\/strong><\/a> website. It will cease on 22 December 2021. The site has been running for a few years now after Gwyn worked with numerous programmers to give a more user-friendly and graphical output to the ITU\u2019s ITURHFPROP propagation prediction program. Predtest has been a very useful tool in the HF user\u2019s armoury, allowing point-to-point and area coverage predictions among others. The <a href=\"https:\/\/rsgb.org\/main\/about-us\/committees\/propagation-studies-committee\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>RSGB Propagation Studies Committee<\/strong><\/a> would like to thank Gwyn for all his hard work on Predtest over the years. Users are being encouraged to move over to James Watson\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/soundbytes.asia\/proppy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Proppy tool<\/strong><\/a>, which offers a similar experience to Predtest and is also based on ITURHFPROP.\u00a0 Alternatively, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.voacap.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>VOACAP.com<\/strong><\/a> offers a similar experience and is based on the well-known VOACAP software.<\/p>\n<p>RSGB HQ will close for the Christmas and New Year period from 16.30 on 23 December 2021. It opens again at 08.30 on 4 January 2022.
