He was also an accomplished and successful contester. He represented <span class=\"caps\">IARU<\/span>\u00a0in the Arab Spectrum Management Group meetings and had attended\u00a0<span class=\"caps\">ITU<\/span>\u00a0World Radio Conferences on behalf of\u00a0<span class=\"caps\">IARU<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on the 2nd July, <span class=\"caps\">IARU<\/span>\u00a0Region 1\u00a0President Don Beattie,\u00a0<span class=\"caps\">G3BJ<\/span>, said \u201cThis is tragic news. Faisal was a valued member of the Executive Committee and of the Region 1 team. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at this sad time\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>RSGB Spectrum Forum Chairman Murray Niman, G6JYB added &#8220;Faisal had diligently supported the work of IARU Region 1 in the Middle East area for several years.
