{"id":25988,"date":"2020-10-26T17:52:15","date_gmt":"2020-10-26T17:52:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rsgb.org\/main\/?p=25988"},"modified":"2020-10-26T17:52:15","modified_gmt":"2020-10-26T17:52:15","slug":"rsgb-seeks-records-of-complaints-about-on-air-behaviour","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rsgb.org\/main\/blog\/news\/rsgb-notices\/2020\/10\/26\/rsgb-seeks-records-of-complaints-about-on-air-behaviour\/","title":{"rendered":"RSGB seeks records of complaints about on-air behaviour"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The RSGB receives complaints from time to time regarding incidences of deliberate jamming and foul or inappropriate language on the air. <a href=\"https:\/\/rsgb.org\/oas\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>The Operating Advisory Service<\/strong><\/a> provides advice on the RSGB website about how to deal with these problems.<\/p>\n<p>The Society has been trying to quantify the size of the problem and recently made a Freedom of Information request to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ofcom.org.uk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Ofcom<\/strong><\/a> asking for the number of reports that had been submitted relating to the Amateur Radio Service between 1 January 2015 and 31 December 2019. Ofcom\u2019s records logged only three identifiable reports of this type during that period.<\/p>\n<p>The RSGB would like to hear from radio amateurs who have reported similar problems directly to Ofcom (not the RSGB) after following OAS\u2019s advice during the same period of time.<\/p>\n<p>The reports should only cover deliberate jamming, use of foul language, or language that would be considered a \u2018hate crime\u2019 as defined by the Crown Prosecution Service\/Procurator Fiscal.
