It was built by students at the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.hit.edu.cn\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Harbin Institute of Technology<\/strong><\/a>\u2014thanks to the <a href=\"https:\/\/rsgb.org\/main\/about-us\/committees\/spectrum-forum\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Spectrum Forum<\/strong><\/a> for this information.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the closure of many amateur radio events, you can still visit the online <em>QSO Today Virtual Ham Expo<\/em> on 8 and 9 August 2020. Attendance is free and registration is now open. There will be around 70 speakers over the weekend including Ward Silver, N0AX, speaking on grounding and bonding; Glen Johnson, W0GJ, talking DXpeditions, and John Portune, W6NBC, on building slot antennas. Go to <a href=\"http:\/\/qsotodayhamexpo.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>qsotodayhamexpo.com<\/strong><\/a> to learn more and register.<\/p>\n<p>John Armstrong, GW3EJR will be celebrating his 100th birthday on 18 July 2020. He told us that, \u201cIt has been a long journey since 1920, although a rather shorter one from when I got my call sign, G3EJR, in 1948. I am still active, using a very ancient Icom IC-706, with a full size G5RV on HF and a Yagi on the 2m band. When I go out and about, I go on 2m with a Baofeng UV-5R5.\u201d Many happy returns John.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ofcom.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Ofcom<\/strong><\/a> have advised the RSGB that their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ofcom.org.uk\/manage-your-licence\/radiocommunication-licences\/online-licensing-service\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>online licensing portal<\/strong><\/a> will be down between 4.30am and 11.30am on Saturday, 11 July 2020.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/muarc.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Mid-Ulster ARC<\/strong><\/a> have been holding online talks during the COVID-19 pandemic. These talks are available for everyone to view on the club\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCF9NZauGrpS0C3A-fs3Eu7g\/videos\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>YouTube channel<\/strong><\/a>. Last week, RSGB <a href=\"https:\/\/rsgb.org\/main\/about-us\/regional-managers\/northern-ireland\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Region 8<\/strong><\/a> representative Philip Hosey, MI0MSO made <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/nYHmYNs_OE0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>a presentation<\/strong><\/a>, which was followed by a Q&amp;A session with RSGB General Manager Steve Thomas, M1ACB.
