{"id":25162,"date":"2020-06-05T17:00:35","date_gmt":"2020-06-05T16:00:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rsgb.org\/main\/?p=25162"},"modified":"2020-06-05T17:02:33","modified_gmt":"2020-06-05T16:02:33","slug":"last-chance-to-respond-ofcom-emf-consultation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rsgb.org\/main\/blog\/news\/gb2rs\/headlines\/2020\/06\/05\/last-chance-to-respond-ofcom-emf-consultation\/","title":{"rendered":"Last chance to respond &#8211; Ofcom EMF consultation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Now is the last chance to submit your response to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ofcom.org.uk\/consultations-and-statements\/category-1\/limiting-exposure-to-emf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Ofcom consultation on exposure to electromagnetic fields<\/strong><\/a> (EMF) to meet the closing date of 12 June 2020.<\/p>\n<p>The RSGB\u2019s own response to the Ofcom consultation has been added ahead of this deadline to the EMF page at <a href=\"https:\/\/rsgb.org\/emf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>rsgb.org\/emf<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In summary, the RSGB appreciates the need for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.icnirp.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>ICNIRP<\/strong><\/a> guidelines but cannot support the proposals from Ofcom that are onerous.<\/p>\n<p>It is felt that the proposals could result in double regulation and are not proportionate to the risk.<\/p>\n<p>Instead, the RSGB recommends a more appropriate change to the existing amateur licence conditions referencing the 2020 ICNIRP guidelines.<\/p>\n<p>The RSGB will also prepare its own guidance and training to help amateurs follow these ICNIRP guidelines.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Now is the last chance to submit your response to the Ofcom consultation on exposure to electromagnetic fields (EMF) to meet the closing date of 12 June 2020.
