{"id":14018,"date":"2015-12-23T13:52:29","date_gmt":"2015-12-23T13:52:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rsgb.org\/main\/?p=14018"},"modified":"2015-12-23T13:52:29","modified_gmt":"2015-12-23T13:52:29","slug":"students-to-speak-to-spaceman-peake","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rsgb.org\/main\/blog\/news\/gb2rs\/headlines\/2015\/12\/23\/students-to-speak-to-spaceman-peake\/","title":{"rendered":"Students to speak to spaceman Peake"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Students at Sandringham School, St Albans are expected to speak to <a href=\"http:\/\/timpeake.esa.int\/\" target=\"_blank\">Tim Peake<\/a> aboard the International Space Station some time during the period of 5 to 10 January, using the special event call sign GB1SAN.<\/p>\n<p>This is the first of <a href=\"\/main\/blog\/ariss\/2015\/12\/16\/first-school-contacts-confirmed\/\">several planned schools contacts<\/a> in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n<p>Three of the students have been trained by Verulam Amateur Radio Club to qualify them for their Foundation licences.<\/p>\n<p>This contact should be the high point of the school\u2019s four-day Festival of Space.<\/p>\n<p>As part of the festival, members of the Verulam club will be running a station from the school using the club\u2019s call sign GX3VER.<\/p>\n<p>The station will operate on all bands and with various modes.<\/p>\n<p>For more information see the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.verulam-arc.org.uk\" target=\"_blank\">Verulam Amateur Radio Club website<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Students at Sandringham School, St Albans are expected to speak to Tim Peake aboard the International Space Station some time during the period of 5 to 10 January, using the special event call sign GB1SAN.
