{"id":12773,"date":"2015-06-26T15:04:48","date_gmt":"2015-06-26T15:04:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rsgb.org\/main\/?p=12773"},"modified":"2015-06-26T15:04:48","modified_gmt":"2015-06-26T15:04:48","slug":"mbe-radio-amateur","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rsgb.org\/main\/blog\/news\/gb2rs\/headlines\/2015\/06\/26\/mbe-radio-amateur\/","title":{"rendered":"MBE for radio amateur"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Congratulations to Ray Aldous, G8CBU who was awarded the MBE in this year\u2019s Queen\u2019s Birthday Honours for his service to Scouting.<\/p>\n<p>Ray became interested in radio whilst he was a student at Luton Technical College and he joined the RAF in 1951 as a wireless mechanic.<\/p>\n<p>He was posted to Egypt and it was there that he became a leader in the Scout movement.<\/p>\n<p>After leaving the RAF he continued as a Scout leader with the 7th Luton troop.<\/p>\n<p>His interest in radio was rekindled when he accompanied his Scouts to the 1966 JOTA station in Luton and 2 years later he gained his amateur licence.<\/p>\n<p>Ray has been involved in JOTA since 1966 and over the years has inspired a number of Scouts and leaders into becoming licenced\u2014and influenced a few amateurs to get involved with Scouting.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Congratulations to Ray Aldous, G8CBU who was awarded the MBE in this year\u2019s Queen\u2019s Birthday Honours for his service to Scouting.
