The UK Space Agency, with the assistance of ARISS, AMSAT-UK and the Radio Society of Great Britain (RSGB), has a limited number of opportunities for schools across the whole of the United Kingdom to speak to Tim via amateur radio.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright  wp-image-9682\" src=\"https:\/\/rsgb.org\/main\/files\/2014\/03\/STS-130_Endeavour_approaches_ISS_3-300x199.jpg\" alt=\"International Space Station\" width=\"246\" height=\"163\" srcset=\"https:\/\/rsgb.org\/main\/files\/2014\/03\/STS-130_Endeavour_approaches_ISS_3-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/rsgb.org\/main\/files\/2014\/03\/STS-130_Endeavour_approaches_ISS_3-150x99.jpg 150w, https:\/\/rsgb.org\/main\/files\/2014\/03\/STS-130_Endeavour_approaches_ISS_3-1024x680.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 246px) 100vw, 246px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>These opportunities are enabled by the ARISS (Amateur Radio on the International Space Station) program and involve the use of amateur radio stations that are established in schools and which link directly to the ISS as it passes overhead, at a speed of 17,500 miles per hour.
