Formerly G2JK, he joined the RSGB in 1935 and was a Member for nearly 80 years.<\/p>\n<p>During the Second World War he was a Radio Security Service Listener for the War Office, sending daily reports to Bletchley Park, then joined the Army and became a Radar and Radio Officer.<\/p>\n<p>Eric, with help from friends in the Signals Corps, was instrumental in bringing the first television signals to Kingston, Ontario (Canada).<\/p>\n<p>A fuller tribute to Eric can be found on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.webwoods.com\/jrfuneral\/obit.cfm?action=obitdetails&amp;obitid=2516\">James Reid Funeral Home website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Lieutenant-Colonel (ret)\u00a0Eric Charles Ilott, VE3XE passed away peacefully on 13 January 13 2015 at the age of 95.
