From the discovery of electricity and Morse code, to fibre optics and the future technology of today, this award-winning museum combines the wonder of science with amazing histories and tales of human endeavour from around the globe, right where the story of communications began.<\/h4>\n

Porthcurno Valley owes its unique heritage to the arrival of the first undersea telegraph cable in 1870. By 1920, PK had become the largest and most important telegraph station in the world, shaping the landscape of the valley and the community that grew up around it.<\/h4>\n

As early as 1902 the Eastern Telegraph Company was concerned about the developments of Marconi and the transmissions from Poldhu, less than 20 miles away from PK.<\/h4>\n

The museum is home to early radio kit acquired from the GPO collections when BT closed their museum, with the radio shack housed in the former watch room.<\/h4>\n
