As technology develops so does the hobby, from the widespread use of Artificial Intelligence, to the benefits of 3D printing.<\/h4>\n<h4>New technologies also offer existing amateurs the opportunity to progress and enhance their own experience by learning new skills.<\/h4>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h3><strong>Artificial Intelligence (AI)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h4>AI offers radio amateurs the opportunity to enhance procedures, streamline processes, as well as experiment and make innovations.<\/h4>\n<h4>In the RSGB 2024 Convention, RSGB Board Chair, Dr Stewart Bryant, G3YSX gave a talk on <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/WkAOEai3ahg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>using AI to write applications<\/strong><\/a>. He discussed how large language models such as ChatGPT and Google Bard\/Gemini have the ability to transform the way that we write software. This is because it requires less detailed user knowledge, which makes it more accessible.<\/h4>\n<h4>Using software such as these can significantly improve productivity and bring the ability to write effective software within the reach of more people. His talk provides insight into the tools and approach that he used in writing a small amateur radio application that was published in the Autumn 2024 edition of <a href=\"https:\/\/rsgb.org\/main\/blog\/news\/rsgb-notices\/2024\/09\/24\/radcom-plus-vol-9-no-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>RadCom Plus<\/strong><\/a>.<\/h4>\n<h4>Stewart has also been a guest presenter on the topic for several organisations.<\/h4>\n<h3><strong>3D Printing<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-36380\" src=\"https:\/\/rsgb.org\/main\/files\/2025\/01\/3D-printing-image-YouTube-1024x518.jpg\" alt=\"3D printer\" width=\"640\" height=\"324\" srcset=\"https:\/\/rsgb.org\/main\/files\/2025\/01\/3D-printing-image-YouTube-1024x518.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/rsgb.org\/main\/files\/2025\/01\/3D-printing-image-YouTube-300x152.jpg 300w, https:\/\/rsgb.org\/main\/files\/2025\/01\/3D-printing-image-YouTube-150x76.jpg 150w, https:\/\/rsgb.org\/main\/files\/2025\/01\/3D-printing-image-YouTube-768x389.jpg 768w, https:\/\/rsgb.org\/main\/files\/2025\/01\/3D-printing-image-YouTube.jpg 1075w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/p>\n<h4>Tom Wardill, 2E0JJI gave a fascinating talk at the RSGB 2024 Convention on <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/CLgUhOAbSIQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Beginners\u2019 3D printing for amateur radio<\/strong><\/a>. This talk demonstrates how 3D Printing is a powerful tool for amateur radio, and one that has become increasingly accessible in recent years.<\/h4>\n<h4>Tom gives a brief overview of how to get started, as well as suggesting where it can be useful in your life as a radio amateur. He aims to leave you in a position to be able to get yourself started by covering topics including machines, software, tools and where to find things.<\/h4>\n<h4>Tom is now the RSGB Maker Champion and <a href=\"https:\/\/youtube.com\/shorts\/CV2wDBKC9SU?si=-YEzjbooguVRnqw1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>we interviewed him very briefly<\/strong><\/a> at the 2025 National Hamfest about the crossover between makerspace, hackspace and amateur radio.<\/h4>\n<h3><strong>Polar modulation<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h4>Did you see the feature in the <a href=\"http:\/\/rsgb.org\/radcom\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>September issue of RadCom<\/strong><\/a> by RSGB Board Chair Stewart Bryant, G3YSX? He wrote about how two product announcements at the 2025 Dayton Hamvention stood out for him, as they applied a technique that has long intrigued experimenters but had rarely appeared in amateur radio transmitters. He was talking about polar modulation.<\/h4>\n<h4>At the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/rsgb.org\/main\/rsgb-convention-2025\/convention-programme-and-speaker-information\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">RSGB Convention<\/a><\/strong> this year we\u2019re delighted to have presentations on this subject by QRP Labs Hans Summers, G0UPL and FlexRadio\u2019s Mike Walker, VA3MW.<\/h4>\n<h3 class=\"page-title\"><strong>Experimenters\u2019 Corner<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h4><span data-olk-copy-source=\"MessageBody\">Find out about emerging and experimental technology in the monthly RadCom column Experimenters&#8217; Corner.
