{"id":32862,"date":"2023-08-29T20:46:41","date_gmt":"2023-08-29T19:46:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rsgb.org\/main\/?page_id=32862"},"modified":"2025-08-11T17:57:11","modified_gmt":"2025-08-11T16:57:11","slug":"foundation-awards","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/rsgb.org\/main\/operating\/amateur-radio-awards\/foundation-awards\/","title":{"rendered":"Foundation awards"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We have a new range of Foundation Awards that are available to UK Foundation licence holders from September 2023.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Foundation HF award<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Bronze:<\/strong> 40 contacts<\/li>\n<li><strong>Silver:<\/strong> 70 contacts<\/li>\n<li><strong>Gold:<\/strong> 100 contacts<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Requirements: <\/strong>Minimum of 10 contacts and maximum of 25 contacts on any four bands as specified below; and a minimum of 15 and maximum of 50 contacts in each mode used.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Modes:<\/strong> at least two of CW, SSB, FM,\u00a0AM, FT8\/FT4 (FT8 and FT4 count as one mode), JS8Call<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bands:<\/strong> any HF band below 50MHz permitted by the licence<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Foundation VHF award<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Bronze:<\/strong> 40 contacts<\/li>\n<li><strong>Silver:<\/strong> 70 contacts<\/li>\n<li><strong>Gold:<\/strong> 100 contacts<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Requirements: <\/strong>Minimum of 10 contacts and maximum of 30 contacts on at least three listed bands; minimum of 15 and maximum of 30 contacts in each mode used.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Modes:<\/strong> at least two of CW, SSB, FM,\u00a0 AM, RTTY, any digital mode (but direct contacts only, not via a repeater or gateway); note that FT4 and FT8 count as one mode; similar applies to any fsk\/psk\/afsk\/msk modes that are only differentiated by phase, tone or frequency shift rate.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bands:<\/strong> any vhf\/uhf\/shf band 50MHZ and above permitted by the licence<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Foundation All-Bands award<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Bronze:<\/strong> 50 contacts<\/li>\n<li><strong>Silver:<\/strong> 100 contacts<\/li>\n<li><strong>Gold:<\/strong> 150 contacts<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Requirements: <\/strong>Minimum of 10 contacts and maximum of 25 contacts on at least four bands; minimum of 15 and maximum of 30 contacts in each mode used.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Modes:<\/strong> at least four of CW, SSB, FM,\u00a0 AM, RTTY, any digital mode (but direct contacts only, not via a repeater or gateway); note that FT4 and FT8 count as one mode; similar applies to any fsk\/psk\/afsk\/msk modes that are only differentiated by phase, tone or frequency shift rate.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bands:<\/strong> any bands permitted by the licence<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>How to apply for an award<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Please send the completed application form together with a list of QSOs supporting it (in either csv, xls, or doc format, or as an adi file), to the Awards Manager at <a href=\"mailto:awards@rsgb.org.uk\">awards@rsgb.org.uk<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/rsgb.services\/\/public\/awards\/RSGB-Foundation-Award-2023.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Application form for the Foundation awards<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We have a new range of Foundation Awards that are available to UK Foundation licence holders from September 2023.
