On air abuse, poor operating standards and jamming is something many radio amateurs have been adversely affected by. Unfortunately, a Freedom of Information request confirmed by our own online request for examples of properly documented reports to Ofcom showed that there were less than half a dozen reports in recent years. We all know the problem is much bigger than, but Ofcom have indicated their wish for reports to come directly from those affected and not via the RSGB. In 2022 I visited Ofcom’s Listening Station at Baldock to help get a better understanding of Ofcom capabilities and what information they require before they will take enforcement action. It was confirmed that compared to the old Radiocommunications Agency they have a much lighter touch to enforcement. Following the meeting, Ofcom have agreed to update their advice on their website and make reporting simpler and their performance measurable. I am also currently a member of a review group looking at the governance of the RSGB with view to making it more accountable to its members and incorporating many of lessons learned after Covid. The year ahead is going to be a difficult one for the RSGB and its members and we must ensure best value for money for our members.

NOMINATORS:

Stewart Bryant, G3YSX
Charlie Morrison, GI4FUE
John Mattocks, G4TEQ
Nick Totterdell, G4FAL
Ian Suart, GM4AUP
Liz Cabban, GW0ETU
Catherine Clark, G1GQJ
Ian White, GM3SEK
Tony Miles, MM0TMZ
Glyn Jones, GW0ANA

There are three candidates for two elected Board Director roles.
