Following WRC-19, the next ITU World Radiocommunication Conference was in Nov\/Dec-2023.\u00a0 The Agenda Items (AIs) for WRC-23 along with several preliminary items for WRC-27 were agreed at the end of WRC-19 and included a number of relevance to amateur radio. Agenda Items of particular interest are listed below.<\/p>\n
For WRC-23, AI-9.1b, the 23cm\/Galileo topic was a high priority and RSGB volunteers supported IARU in ongoing CEPT\/ITU studies. <\/strong>Other notable threats arise from AI-1.12, AI-9.1a and AI-10.<\/p>\n In addition a major item on the WRC-23 agenda is AI-1.5 which will review UHF TV Broadcasting and potential Mobile use in 470-960MHz.<\/p>\n At ITU level, the RA-23 meeting agreed ITU-R Recommendation M.2164<\/strong><\/a> just prior to WRC-23<\/p>\n WRC-23 itself agreed to refer to M.2164 via allocation footnote RR5.332A that applies to the 1240-1300MHz band:-<\/p>\n 5.332A<\/strong> Administrations authorizing operation of the amateur and amateur-satellite services in the frequency band 1 240-1 300 MHz, or portions thereof, shall ensure that the amateur and amateur-satellite services do not cause harmful interference to radionavigation-satellite service (space-to-Earth) receivers in accordance with No. 5.29 (see the most recent version of Recommendation ITU R M.2164). The authorizing administration, upon receipt of a report of harmful interference caused by a station of the amateur or amateur-satellite services, shall take all necessary steps to rapidly eliminate such interference.
