The Full licence carries with it more privileges than the Intermediate licence, including a higher power limit and the opportunity to operate in many other countries.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The course<\/strong><\/h3>\n

It\u2019s not necessary to take a course to sit the Full exam, but we would strongly recommend doing so. A list of online courses can be found on our Online Training Resources<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0page.<\/h4>\n

You can also use our\u00a0Course and Exam Finder<\/strong><\/a> to find a club that will provide the Full course near you. Please check with your local club to find out what training and support they can offer, before and after the exam.<\/h4>\n

The clubs and training organisations may or may not charge for their services, the RSGB recommends you check thoroughly before signing up to a course.<\/h4>\n

Understandably, the Full course is more challenging than the Intermediate<\/strong><\/a>. You will need to have passed your Intermediate exam before sitting your Full exam.<\/h4>\n

The exam<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The exam consists of 58 multiple choice questions, each with four possible responses and lasts for two hours.<\/h4>\n

The exam is taken online usually at home with a remote invigilator, or in a club setting.\u00a0Book and pay online<\/a><\/strong>, and select the time and date that suits you.<\/h4>\n

You will be given your result immediately after you complete the online exam, together with detailed feedback regarding your performance.<\/h4>\n

What happens after the exam?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Once you have passed your exam, you will receive your official results from the RSGB within around six working days. When you receive this confirmation (which will include a certificate with your candidate number and your Harmonised Amateur Radio Examinations Certificate – HAREC), you can register on the Ofcom licensing system<\/strong><\/a>, choose your call sign and apply for your licence. There is no charge for the licence if you apply online.<\/h4>\n
