RadCom Managing Editor

| April 28, 2022

Reporting to the General Manager, the Managing Editor will manage RadCom, the Society’s journal, which is one of the most respected amateur radio publications in the world.

You will be responsible for all operational aspects of the publication including budgets, design and ensuring timely publication and distribution to members in both print and digital formats.

This is a crucial strategic role within the team as the successful candidate will need to lead the development of the entire co-ordinated portfolio, including exploiting new media opportunities.

Other responsibilities will include planning the content of the magazines, commissioning technical articles, sub-editing copy sent in by contributors and regular columnists, liaising with the advertising agent and ensuring the publications are consistently produced to a high standard. You will work with a Technical Editor to provide consistent high-quality technical content.

The role also includes overseeing the publication of RadCom Basics and RadCom Plus with their editors, as well as being part of the team that puts together GB2RS, the Society’s weekly online and radio broadcast news.

You will need to show demonstrable experience of producing professional and technical publications in both print and digital formats, have a strong command of the English language, superb attention to detail and be able to work with a range of publishing tools.

You will need to be able to prioritise your workload, work well with the wider team and provide an excellent service to the members. Ideally, you will have a knowledge of amateur radio or otherwise an interest in radio, electronics and other technical subjects.

This role might suit someone who has experience of working for a technical and/or membership journal or magazine with an interest in electronics, computing, engineering or other technical experience.

This role carries a generous salary and benefits package.

The role is being advertised by Redwood Publishing Recruitment and is also on the Guardian Jobs website and LinkedIn.
