RSGB Convention Programme

** Provisional Programme Now released **

The final 2018 Programme will be published nearer to the Convention but we are pleased that, amongst others, the following talks have been confirmed for the RSGB Convention in October

  • Ian White, GM3SEK will be talking about “VHF Baluns – Fact and Fancy”. Ian will be taking a critical look at some long-established methods for feeding Yagi antennas and identifying a new list of Do’s and Don’ts for modern conditions.
  • John Worsnop, G4BAO will cover “The Wednesday Night Digifest”. He will explain why he initiated a regular Wednesday night ‘Digifest’ to encourage activity above 1GHz and explain the relevant modes for each band.
  • Naomi Kurahara, JE6GXN will introduce people to “INFOSTELLAR” which aims to set up a global network of satellite receiving stations to enable satellite owners to receive telemetry from their low earth orbit satellites when they are not in view of their own ground stations.
  • Ciaran Morgan, M0XTD will bring us up to date on “ARISS and STEM”. Ciaran will speak about his experiences in getting young people interested in STEM and also describe the possibilities that are being planned for the future for amateur radio activities on the ISS.
  • Noel Matthews, G8GTZ will present on “The Farnham WebSDR – DC to Microwaves on your smartphone”. This presentation will give an overview of the Farnham WebSDR which currently covers the LF bands through to 10GHz.
  • Peter Gülzow, DB2OS will give an “UPDATE ON ES’HAIL-2” which will be the first satellite to carry an amateur payload to be launched into geosynchronous orbit.

Other presentations will be announced in the coming months.

Please note that sometimes lectures will be subject to last minute change and revision.

We will do our best to notify visitors of any changes on the day but cannot be held responsible if individual lectures do not take place or are given at different times or have different room allocations from that advertised.

You may check with the organisers on the day if there is something specific you are planning to attend.
