{"id":500,"date":"2013-03-26T13:56:35","date_gmt":"2013-03-26T13:56:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/rsgbbeta.org\/events\/?page_id=500"},"modified":"2013-04-05T17:09:47","modified_gmt":"2013-04-05T17:09:47","slug":"creating-a-location","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/rsgb.org\/events\/rsgb-events-site\/for-managers\/manage-locations\/creating-a-location\/","title":{"rendered":"Creating a Location &#8211; Help"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4>To create a Location:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Select the \u201cLocation\u201d option from the \u201cNew\u201d top-bar menu, or go to the \u201c<a title=\"Create and Manage Locations\" href=\"https:\/\/rsgb.org\/events\/rsgb-events-site\/for-managers\/manage-locations\/\">Create and Manage Locations<\/a>\u201d page and click \u201cAdd New\u201d.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Give the location a name and enter its address.<\/strong> The \u201cRegion\u201d field of the address is used by the \u201c<a title=\"Events In Your Region\" href=\"https:\/\/rsgb.org\/events\/rsgb-events-site\/in-your-region\/\">Events in Your Region<\/a>\u201d menu option, and\u00a0must be set using the appropriate radio button.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Check that the Google\u2122 Map shows the location sufficiently accurately.<\/strong> The map\u2019s pointer can be dragged to position it in the correct place, but first make sure the address is complete, as changes to the address may cause the pointer to move.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Enter location details in the main editing panel.<\/strong> These might include travel directions, parking instructions, and a description of the facilities available, but should not include information specific to the event. The aim is to create an entry which may be used for subsequent events at the same location.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Set the additional table fields.<\/strong> There are four extra fields which may be used. If present, they will appear in event tables against events at the location. They should be kept short so that they fit neatly into the tables, so use abbreviations rather than full names where possible, and explain the abbreviation, if necessary, in the main location description.\u00a0These extra fields are:\n<ul>\n<li>\u201c<strong>Club Name<\/strong>\u201d and \u201c<strong>Club Contact<\/strong>\u201d for use if the location is associated particularly with one club. If present, they will appear in event tables in the Sponsor and Organiser columns.<\/li>\n<li>\u201c<strong>Phone<\/strong>\u201d should contain a contact number for the location (or the club), and only appears in the location description<\/li>\n<li>\u201c<strong>Travel Hints<\/strong>\u201d is for very brief hints about getting to the location; \u201cM25,J4\u201d for example. If present, it will appear after the location name in the Location column of the event tables.<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;<strong>Training options<\/strong>&#8221; is set using a drop-down, and may be used to indicate the manner in which Licence Training is available. If set, it will appear in location lists and the location&#8217;s balloon on the various Google\u2122\u00a0Map displays.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Check and submit the Location.<\/strong> When you think the location is sufficiently accurately entered, use the \u201cPreview\u201d button to view it (if you have been using the Dashboard edit screen) and then submit it.
