Ray Blythe, MI0VFO (SK)

The death occurred on the 30th June of Raymond (Ray) Blythe, MI0VFO, late of Bready, Strabane Co Tyrone.  His funeral took place on Sunday 3rd July at 3pm at Leckpatrick Parish Church, Donemana. Ray is survived by his wife Ann, MI3IGO and family.

Ray was one of the founding members of the Foyle and District Amateur Radio Club and remained an active member throughout his long illness until the time of his passing. The club has been run from a specially converted outhouse at Ray’s QTH for the past 15 years or more. Many in the northwest will know Ray from the many courses ran by the club over the years. Ray was the assistant instructor for the Foundation and Intermediate level exam courses and also helped with the HAREC courses taught by the club over the years. He also was the sole instructor for Morse code in the club and was known f or his great patience and wit during the many long winter nights spent at the clubhouse getting ready for the exams.

He will be sadly missed by many friends in the club and in the surrounding area. His wish was that the club remain operating from his QTH and we will continue to do that for the foreseeable future thanks to him and his wife Ann. May he rest in peace.
