On 1st August 2016, Krzysztof Slomczynski, SP5HS passed away at the age of 81. He was one of the most merited radio amateurs in Poland. The late Krzysztof was one of the reactivators of the Polish Amateur Radio Union (PZK) over the period 1956-57. He was a member of the Headquarters of the PZK, and He was involved in publishing of the Polish radio amateur magazine Krótkofalowiec Polski. He was awarded the Honorary Decoration of the PZK with the 007 number. He was one of five persons who established the SP DX Club in 1959.

In the years 1970-1974, he served as General Secretary of the PZK and Director of the Bureau of the PZK, simultaneously. For many years, he was a member of the Management Board of the Warsaw Branch of the PZK. He was a co-founder of the Amateur Radio Direction Finding Club of the PZK.

In 1990, he was elected President of the PZK (the first post-war president elected in a democratic way). He performed this function until 1992.

He was a member and Chairman of the State Examination Commission for Radio Amateurs.  He was a participant of the International Amateur Radio Union  Region 1 General Conference that took place in 1975 in Warsaw. He was a very active officer of the IARU Region 1.

By 2010, He was ARDF Manager of the PZK, and he co-operated closely all the time with the Presiding Committee of the Headquarters of the PZK in various fields of our hobby. In such a short tribute, it is not possible to mention all achievements of the late Krzysztof, SP5HS.

We lost a very industrious man – fully dedicated to amateur radio – from our ranks, and also a Honorary Member of the Polish Amateur Radio Union.

Krzysztof, we will miss you a lot. May You Rest in Peace.
