Joyce Bannister, SWL, 25 June 2016

| June 28, 2016

I am sorry to report that Joyce Bannister passed away on the afternoon of 25th June 2016.  She was in bed and was very calm.  A good neighbour and a friend were with her at the time.  She was 91 and had lung cancer.

Joyce was the XYL of Roy Bannister, G4GPX (SK) and both were supporters of amateur radio, especially Worthing and District Amateur Radio Club (WADARC).

Even after Roy passed away, Joyce remained a member of WADARC and took a keen interest in Club affairs.

Joyce was a very bright lady and in her later years, managed a computer very well, especially using email to keep in touch with us all.

Although Joyce never applied for an amateur radio licence, her interest in amateur radio continued and in the last 2 years, Joyce purchased a 2m/70cm handheld transceiver so that she could keep up-to-date with local operating.

Many, many people have fond memories of Joyce and she will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

Tribute by Alan, G4GNX
Vice Chairman, WADARC
