Bob Shaw, G3VRD (SK)

Robert (Bob) Shaw, G3VRD, sadly became a silent key in the early hours of Monday 17th August, aged 80 years. He was an honorary life member of Lincoln Shortwave Club where he had enjoyed continuous membership since 1974 (41 years).

He had undertaken many key position in the club and at various times had been Chairman and Treasurer. Many members owed their success in amateur radio to Bob’s tuition and mentoring and his technical skills were legendary.

He arranged and undertook the judging of many of the club’s construction competitions and, as one who was a keen constructor himself, his decisions were well respected – and final!

Bob was a frequent contributor to the club’s swear box but this did not detract from his caring and always helpful manner in supporting any member in achieving their personal goals, whether just starting out in the hobby or an old timer. He will be sadly missed by all those at Lincoln Shortwave Club and by many others with whom he came into contact.

RIP
