Special Event News – 8 November 2015

The RSGB HQ special event call sign GB3HQ will be activated the weekend of 14 and 15 November by Brimham Contest Group in North Yorkshire. The station will operate on HF bands 160m, 80m, 40m, 20m, 15m and 10m, CW and SSB. In particular between 2000 and 2300UTC on Saturday the call will be used in the RSGB 160m club calls SSB contest. Stations are invited to contact GB3HQ over the weekend and in particular during the contest. On 13 and 14 November, GB0CIN will be on air from 9am to 11pm highlighting the BBC Children in Need appeal. Located at the Worksop ARS HQ at 59-61 West Street, Worksop, Nottinghamshire S80 1JP, operation will be on all bands from 80m to 70cm using CW, SSB, data and FM. Visitors are welcome and there will be plenty of fundraising activities taking place.

To mark the 5th anniversary of the International Day of the Flamenco for UNESCO, EG7IFD will be on the air from 13 to 16 November. See QRZ.com for more details.

On 14 and 15 November, GB5SH will be run from St Hilda’s Church, Hartlepool, TS24 0DA as part of the Church’s Patronal Festival remembering St Hilda. Operation is expected to be on 80, 40 and 2m.

On air from 20 to 25 November, KC9HYY/WSL3 commemorates the sinking of HMHS Britannic on the 21 November 1916. Operation will be on 10 to 40m using SSB and PSK31, with the possibility of CW. More information at www.kc9hyy.wordpress.com.

Z38CE will commemorate the 20th Anniversary of Macedonia becoming a member of the Council of Europe on 9 November 1995. Operation will be from 7 to 13 November. QSL via F5LGF.
